Beans
and Roasting…
Our
Beans
We source only the highest quality Arabica
green beans from around the world. After
sampling hundreds of bean varieties, we chose
a balanced selection with a wide variety
of flavors and experiences to include in
the Silver Bean repertoire. The beans we
source must meet our demanding standards
of excellence. |
|
What, you June ask, are these standards? Our own taste
buds! We only offer beans from which we would make
coffee for ourselves! You can be assured we offer only
the highest quality beans. As different varieties of
coffee are available throughout the year, we will share
with you our seasonal favorites when they arrive.
High Altitude Roasting Process
We hand roast all of our beans in Salt Lake City, UT. Because
of the elevation (4,300 feet) our roasting process
is known as “high altitude roasting.” High
altitude is ideal for roasting coffee. This is due
to a cooler climate and reduced air pressure that are
optimal for drawing out each bean’s maximum flavor. As
a result, we are able to obtain the highest quality
roast and the freshest taste.
Our roaster has no gadgets, robots, or anything automatic. We
carefully watch each batch while it is roasting and
adjust it accordingly. Since every batch is different,
our rigorous attention to detail ensures the optimal
roast for each bean is selected in order to bring out
it’s full flavor potential.
Roasting Styles
Different bean selections require different roasts
in order to highlight the flavor of each bean variety.
We offer bean roasts in a broad spectrum of fantastic
flavors: from a city roast (medium light) to an Italian/espresso
roast (dark) and everywhere in between. We
always roast to perfection and we will never burn
your beans, we PROMISE!!!
Fresh Roasted To Order
We believe that quality matters. A large component
of a high-quality coffee is freshness. We take freshness
very seriously, as stale beans are a tell-tale sign
of a low-quality product. Your order is custom-roasted
for you; we do not stock our warehouses full of previously
roasted coffee. At Silver Bean Coffee, we do
not roast until you order; as a result, you always
receive fresh, fully flavored coffee.
Storing Your Beans
It is optimal to have whole bean coffee stored and
then grind what you are going to use right before
hand. Ideally, you should not have more coffee
on hand than you will use in a week. When storing
your beans you should use an airtight GLASS container.
Plastic and paper containers are undesirable as plastic
picks up flavors easily and will transfer them to
your beans (just like bottled water!!) and paper
allows too much air movement which makes the beans
become stale. Also do NOT put coffee in the
refrigerator and keep away from light.
The Perfect Cup Of Coffee
1) Start with the world’s best Silver Bean Coffee,
preferably whole bean.
2) Grind right before use. Make sure you are
using the proper grind for your coffee machine; espresso
grind is waaay different than a coffee pot grind!
3) Use cold filtered water.
4) For optimal flavor and taste, use 2 tablespoons
of whole beans for every 6 ounces of coffee. This June
sound like a lot, but it’s really what you need
to make a full strength cup of coffee. Give it
a try and if you love it great, and if you don’t,
go back to what you like!!
5) Stir your coffee before drinking
6) Sit back and enjoy!!
