Who
We Are...
After an amazing champagne powder day in Utah, Shannon and her ski buddies settled
in at a local coffee shop to warm up. Ski stories were the topic of discussion,
and each person shared their funniest and most beloved skiing memory. |
|
Before long, everyone in the group was laughing so
hard their cheeks hurt. Shannon looked around at her
happy friends reminiscing about skiing over good coffee
and decided she wanted to capture that moment forever.
As a result, Shannon channeled her passion for skiing
and her love of a great cup of coffee into Silver Bean
Coffee Co.
Working alongside her partner, Matt Happe, Shannon’s
idea became a reality. Shannon and Matt work diligently
to craft unique and delicious coffee blends. With countless
hours spent selecting the perfect beans, roasting to
perfection, and drinking cup after cup of the final
product, they ensure you are getting the best coffee
in the business!! With the snowy peaks surrounding
Salt Lake City, UT as a glimmering backdrop, we are
proud to present Silver Bean Coffee Co.
Who is Shannon Bahrke?
Silver Bean Coffee Co was founded by 2002 Olympic Silver
Medalist Shannon Bahrke. She started skiing at the
age of 3 and has been a member of the U.S. Freestyle
Ski Team for the past 10 years. During this time,
Shannon was also a member of two Olympic Teams and
represented the United States in the Salt Lake City
and Torino Winter Games. Whether she is competing
in a World Cup competition in Italy, taking a high
speed groomer on an early morning in Japan, or skiing
endless powder all day long in Tahoe, Shannon feels
most at home when she is on her skis. Because her
sport enables her to travel all over the globe, Shannon
has been lucky enough to sample a wide assortment
of coffee in many exotic locations! Shannon’s
tireless energy drives her to be the best in the
competitive skiing world, while also enabling her
to realize her dreams in the coffee business as well.
And Matt Happe?
Matt Happe was born in Nebraska and moved to Utah because
he was attracted to “The Greatest Snow On Earth!” Matt
most enjoys the challenge of backcountry skiing.
In Utah, he continues to tackle nearly every mountain
that he can hike to the top of and ski down. Upon
first moving to Utah, Matt opened a mountain bike
store as a way to pass time between ski seasons.
Revolution, as he named the store, turned out to
be an immense success and was ranked the top bike
shop in Utah! Matt sold Revolution to enjoy a year
of “self un-employment.” Matt’s
entrepreneurial spirit never waned, however, and
he saw Silver Bean Coffee Co. as the perfect way
to invest his talent.
